Toddler Leotards for a First Ballet Class
A leotard is what nearly every pre-ballet and creative-movement class asks for, because it lets the teacher see posture and alignment in a way a t-shirt cannot. For two- to four-year-olds the practical choices are camisole and short sleeve for year-round class, flutter sleeve for the softer look most preschool classes favour, and long sleeve for cold studios. Skirted styles put the leotard and skirt in one piece, so there is nothing to twist around mid-class.
Sizing: 2T, 3T and 4
Stelle toddler leotards start at 3XS (2/3) and run through XXS (4), sized to her everyday clothing size rather than her age. A leotard should sit snug without pulling at the shoulders; if she is between sizes, size up and let the stretch do the work.
Cotton or Performance Stretch
Cotton leotards feel softer against toddler skin and are the easier choice for weekly class. Performance stretch is smoother under a skirt and holds its shape longer through washing.
What to Wear With a Toddler Leotard
Footed ballet tights and full sole ballet shoes finish the outfit; a chiffon or mesh skirt layers on top where the studio allows one. Shop girls dance tights, kids ballet shoes and girls dance skirts.
