Choosing the right style depends on your child's dance discipline and their specific class needs:

• Footed Tights: These are the classic "full coverage" option that fit like a sock. They provide a seamless, streamlined look inside ballet slippers and are the standard choice for young beginners.
• Convertible Tights: Our most versatile style, these feature a small, reinforced hole under the ball of the foot. They can be worn over the foot like normal tights or pulled up to the ankle to leave the feet bare—perfect for dancers switching between ballet and contemporary or for easily adjusting toe pads.
• Stirrup Tights: These feature a strap that hooks under the arch, leaving the heel and toes exposed. They provide the elegant leg line of a tight while offering the bare-foot traction and grip needed for jazz, lyrical, or acro dance.

Dance tights are designed to fit snugly to provide support and a sleek line, which means they often run smaller than everyday clothing. We recommend referring to the Stelle Size Chart based on your child's height and weight rather than age alone. If your child is between sizes or at the top of a height range, we suggest sizing up for the most comfortable fit.

Dance tights are specially designed for movement, durability, and comfort. They are typically made from materials like nylon/spandex, offering high stretch, strong recovery, and smooth, uniform coverage. Many styles also include dance-specific features such as convertible feet (with an opening for foot access) or stirrup designs, along with flatter, more comfortable waistbands.

Regular tights, on the other hand, are made for everyday wear. They are usually thinner, less durable, and more prone to tearing, without the flexibility or specialized features needed for dance.

To help dance tights last longer and maintain their stretch, we recommend the following care tips:

• Place tights in a mesh laundry bag before washing to prevent snags.
• Wash in cold water on a delicate cycle.
• Air dry only, as high heat from dryers can damage the spandex fibers and cause the tights to lose their elasticity.
