The waistband is very stretchy, and isn't tight or uncomfortable in the slightest. It fits above my hips and is long enough to look respectable (about 2-3 inches above my knees). I will mention there is an under-layer made of sparkly tulle and a second under-layer made of a soft, thin, transparent, crepe-y fabric, and it isn't thick enough to fully keep it from being see-through. I think it's passable though and really depends on lighting.

- The construction is pretty good, but the design is exceptional. Not only is there a fully cotton lining underneath, but there’s also a chiffon-like layer in between it and the outside tulle that adds sparkle.
- The tulle is not only sewn in layers, but they are ruffled and sewn in a wave-like pattern. It’s really unique, fun, and looks great.
- The waistband is also super sparkly, which is fun. It’s stretchy, fits true to size, and is comfortable to wear.

Once again the brand Stelle knocks it out of the park with high quality items. The size 8-9 fit my 8 year old just right. She usually wears a size 8 in regular clothes. The elastic waistband is on the tighter side so maybe consider sizing up if your child is a bit bigger in the waist.
This tutu is a great length for everyday wear (with shorts under) or to dance class. The tulle is multilayered per color and it has a thin cotton liner so the tulle isn’t rubbing against the legs.
